Well, no luck finding the memory card, so we're officially back to the written word--and aren't I better at it? XP Don't answer that.
Anywho, what's been happening? I suppose the main thing in the past week was, on Saturday, me and Em and Cat and her fiance Faith went to see this French movie at the Crest, Priceless ("Hors de Prix") with Audre Tatou and this one hawt guy. (Well, *I* thought he was cute...) Very delightful fluff.
We also went to the Sac's on the way back (Faith lives right across the river from me), and I officially became the Queen of Thrift for procuring not only the purple pants I wanted but some black pants too... for exactly $1.08. Can you say "whoo hoo!"?
Speaking of which, yesterday, I also finally got my bank account. I'm hoping this means I am entering adult hood... Or, that I'll at least be able to use my money now. XP
What else has been happening in Andyland? Well, sleeping. Oh! And I need to keep my promise and see "Juno" and hopefully some other movies for me and Cat's long-talked-about but not-really-as-of-yet-planned movie/slumber party. Gotta get on that! ^_^ (I just need a place to do it... >__>)
What else? Well, as you may have heard on the videos, since I've been back, I've been traipsing *all* over town--so I think I'm getting closer to really knowing my city, des les deux rivieres. Tryin' to keep up on my French by listenin' to Francoise Hardy. I think Sacramento Pride is also this weekend...
So, obviously, I'm keeping busy. I'll try to post more often and keep y'all better updated, though! ^_^ Toodles!
Did I mention yet? I'm ready to be home. I dove into doing all this stuff this semester, and did a good job of pushing it back down, but the homesickness is back in full force and I'm a girl with a plan...
See, I'm planning on doing all this stuff, right? Getting out and into Sacramento culture, so I can soak it all up before I come back down here. Andy needs to get faaaabulous!
And me and Laura got awful fabulous last night. We weren't even doing anything... We drove out to find something to eat, and it seems like everyone had turned off their icecream machines, but we still moving around to the beat and generally acting like we were drunk. It was *awesome*. ;D
Oh, and then I had my AICH2 final today... At 8. A.M. It went a lot better than I was dreading (I mean, I don't think by 'moderate essay' they meant a big 10 page thing, in one of those little blue books, but anywho...) and I think I'll be studying for the other two tonight.
I can't wait to get back home, though. I'm already gone mentally. I'll be sure to keep y'all up to date on everything I'll be doing. In the meantime, I'm counting down the 72 hours until I am *back*, baby, BACK.
(Actually, I had this yummy spam-rice-seaweed wrap thing over break that was delish, but anyhow...)

12. Shoes worn for sports.
Sneakers... or tennis shoes?
13. Putting a room in order.
Cleaning... organizing?
14. A flying insect that glows in the dark.
Firefly... though we don't really have 'em around here that I've seen. So, either mosquitoes or cars.
15. The little insect that curls up into a ball.
I don't know what they're called. Sometimes we called 'em curliecues.
16. The children's playground equipment where one kid sits on one side and goes up while the other sits on the other side and goes down.
Seesaw.
17. How do you eat your pizza?
In bites you can count on one hand. XP (Though when we were younger, those Pizza Hut commercials brainwashed us to eat the crust first, so I'm fond of that part, but last... those cheese-filled crusts were the best! ^_^)

Garage sale.
19. What's the evening meal?
Meal? XP (Dinner, I've heard...)
20. The thing under a house where the furnace and perhaps a rec room are?
I don't know if it's better to have a basement on a flood plain or not, but most houses don't have them, they just have an empty space under there...*shrug*
21. What do you call the thing that you can get water out of to drink in public places?
Drinking fountain.
22: If something is diagonally located, where is it in relation to you?
I have no idea... across the street? That corner over there? *shrug*
23. What do you call the place where the water comes out of the sink?
Faucet.
And one I (docbrite) added:
24. What are the four points of the compass?
Gold Country (Folsom Lake, Roseville, Auburn, Placerville); Stockton/Modesto/Lodi; San Francisco/Bay Area; Sierra Nevada/Lake Tahoe.
*I *really* need a Sacramento icon...;.;
It's official. If I hesitated to call SN&R a liberal newspaper before now, the fact that most of this weeks stories had to do with abortion and environmental issues should speak for itself.
Meanwhile, Crossroads is way more fashionable that I had thought. I figured they were just, like, indie-hip. Which I guess they are, still, but this website surprised me. (This is a great place to shop though, I think--I got great deals on the jeans I got before I left, and the sweater I got when I came back. It's hard to find jeans that fit me, and these are really cute; and the sweater is really soft, this pleasing reddish color. I actually saw the same sweater in a department store later on for more than half as much as I paid, so I'd recommend the Arden store at least...)
Then again, I need to get way more into the Sacramento scene this summer. And I need to do major research for my novel... It takes place in Northern California in the late '60's to early '70's mostly (the main action being September of '76). I need to find if there is a house on some sort of road in the farmland between Sacramento and Davis, where I want to place the main action. History of Sacramento in this time-frame (and of Davis, and how big it was at the time) will be important. A bit of it takes place in San Francisco, but that part's easy...
I need an idea of local architecture, and whatever culture. I think I'll ask my Aunt and my mother, obviously, because my main protaginist's life is modelled, at least in part, after my mother's...
I think I need to just write out what my basic idea/outline of this is, and about my characters and their background. Give me a better foundation...
Anyway, me stop rambling now and go off to do that...:P (I think the 700 words I wrote shouldn't be the start, but where I originally wanted to start, though my previous revelation will help with that. I think showing Sharon leaving Daniel should come later in the book... sort of a backwards thing. It at least helped me start more comfortably in media res.
Plues, I'm just in love with that first line: "The first thing she noticed was the roses." Though I'm still struggling with how to continue that paragraph...:P
With the help of google and Montebello buslines, I have figured out a workable plan:
--Take 10 to Montebellow Blvd.--take 20 to Garvey Ave.--walk to N. Santa Anita Ave.--turn right towards Rush st.--(if you pass the 10 you've gone the wrong way and if you hti Tyler Ave. you've gone too far).
The stop on Garvey is two blocks away from a Golf Course, and several blocks past the other side of that is the station. It shouldn't be too far to walk. The only problem would be getting from the 10 to the 20. I don't know how far the nearest stop is along Whittier Blvd, but the 20's route crosses its where Montebello and Whittier meet.
Either way, I'm feeling more confident about it. Now I just need to get one of my fives exchanged into ones for the bus and make sure I'm able to carry my stuff. So, I shouldn't be carrying too terribly much home with me, as I don't want to be weighted down.
So, need to do my laundry, clean a bit (I cleaned last week, so I should only have to tidy up a bit). Make sure what I'm not taking is stored away, and decide what is *absolutely* necessary to take with me. (Clothes and books should be more than enough to carry).
Then, checkout at 8 tomorrow, taking off and hopefully at the station by 10.
I won't stop being anxious until I'm that bus takes off with me and I'm firmly on my way to Sacramento. :P
***
On the bus ride, I won't really have music, and those seats aren't comfortable enough for sleeping, so I have a *ton* of books to read. Also, I *love* watching scenery pass. This is what shows I have never gone *anywhere*, in that even rocks and grass look exciting to me.
When I get in Sacramento around midnight, Heather'll be picking me up. (I wanted to visit
Monday and Wednesday I'll be visiting Choices and all the folks there.
Friday I need to find a way to get to
Oh, and get some way to get together with
And hang out and visit whoever and whatever and wherever else I can think of. And get lots of reading and writing done.
I'll LJ again prolly when I'm at my sister's or stop by a library. Stay tuned.
