Me and Laura went to Long Beach for the Pride there, was very fun, took loads of pictures; hopefully I can get with Laura to e-mail them to meself so I can post some cuteness! ^_^
We hung out at her bandmate's house--it was dykealicious! ^_^ Soooo many lesbians, and so crazy and witty, I felt very much at home. But then I started coming down with this runny nose and fell asleep on the leather couch--I hope I'm not coming down with anything... But it was def, def, really good to get out to somewhere other than Whittier down here before I left, and it was pretty amazing...
I'm studying for my finals tomorrow (Philosophy and English), doing readings and stuff. I've done fairly well in these classes, so I'm feeling pretty confident about it. Excited about leaving in (squee!) twenty hours. Never ridden on the train before; I can't stop talking about being excited to go home and really Midtown it up.
I might not get to post again before I leave, so leave some love (aka comments)!
This Friday I went up to CalTech to *finally* visit Ryan. I was surprised that the trip only took about an hour and a half--good to know for future visits.
I think this was the first time I saw Ryan since we both graduated--I quickly fell back into old habits, by which I of course mean, being excessively mean and teasing Ryan to no end. I'm glad he finally grew his hair out; I spent so many years trying to get him to do it! (I, too, have finally reached a level of satisfaction with my own hair that I have been trying to achieve for the past three years. :P)
At any rate, CalTech looks surprisingly like an Ivy League school in architecture--and in character, as well. Security is very lax, and I was reading in Legends of CalTech about the time they actually froze Hell over--Hell being the frosh hallway where Ryan currently resides; the walls are painted with flames, the kitchen connecting it to the shorter Heaven hallway being titled Purgatory--using an old refrigeration device and copper tubing. There was ice-skating to be had.
You should hear some of the zany pranks these science and math geeks come up with...o.0 Apparently, they are very rowdy. Who knew?
(Also, only semi-surprisingly, there are certainly quite a few students of Asian-origin. Ryan's new girlfriend, for instance. *wags eyebrows* She was playing this hentai game but for the longest time nothing was happening. The storyline was crap, but the text just kept on going and going and going and going... which brings me to why I'm stupid:

I didn't get back until this afternoon, despite having left Ryan's company *yesterday* afternoon. "How is it," you may ask, "Andy my dear fellow, that it took you a full twenty-four hours to get from Pasadena to Whittier, when one can plainly see on a map they are not so far apart and you yourself have stated it only took you less than two to get there in the first place?"
And this would be an excellent query, which I shall respond to thusly:
Well, I'm actually kind of proud of it, yanno? All told, I walked at least twenty miles, and no one can take that away from me. I didn't even get close to collapsing (though my feet got awful sore once I got into Montebello). It was certainly an experience. But I really need to get people's numbers who have cars, so if I ever get stranded, I have somebody to call. :P
This is getting a bit long, but can you tell I've had quite a weekend? Now I need to try and see what homework I can actually do before I go to sleep. (Hint: not much. XP)

*San Marino is, by the way, a very lovely town; when I inevitably sell out to the middle class, it wouldn't be a bad place to live (though I'd rather revert to Sacramento). Pasadena's a bit too snooty for my tastes, though very fine architecturally speaking.
**Whittier lies at the eastern-most point of LA County, just on the cusp of Orange County.
***Compared to what I ended up walking, that is. :P
****Again, comparitively speaking.
With the help of google and Montebello buslines, I have figured out a workable plan:
--Take 10 to Montebellow Blvd.--take 20 to Garvey Ave.--walk to N. Santa Anita Ave.--turn right towards Rush st.--(if you pass the 10 you've gone the wrong way and if you hti Tyler Ave. you've gone too far).
The stop on Garvey is two blocks away from a Golf Course, and several blocks past the other side of that is the station. It shouldn't be too far to walk. The only problem would be getting from the 10 to the 20. I don't know how far the nearest stop is along Whittier Blvd, but the 20's route crosses its where Montebello and Whittier meet.
Either way, I'm feeling more confident about it. Now I just need to get one of my fives exchanged into ones for the bus and make sure I'm able to carry my stuff. So, I shouldn't be carrying too terribly much home with me, as I don't want to be weighted down.
So, need to do my laundry, clean a bit (I cleaned last week, so I should only have to tidy up a bit). Make sure what I'm not taking is stored away, and decide what is *absolutely* necessary to take with me. (Clothes and books should be more than enough to carry).
Then, checkout at 8 tomorrow, taking off and hopefully at the station by 10.
I won't stop being anxious until I'm that bus takes off with me and I'm firmly on my way to Sacramento. :P

On the bus ride, I won't really have music, and those seats aren't comfortable enough for sleeping, so I have a *ton* of books to read. Also, I *love* watching scenery pass. This is what shows I have never gone *anywhere*, in that even rocks and grass look exciting to me.
When I get in Sacramento around midnight, Heather'll be picking me up. (I wanted to visit
Monday and Wednesday I'll be visiting Choices and all the folks there.
Friday I need to find a way to get to
Oh, and get some way to get together with
And hang out and visit whoever and whatever and wherever else I can think of. And get lots of reading and writing done.
I'll LJ again prolly when I'm at my sister's or stop by a library. Stay tuned.
